About World Waternet

Let’s think about our water

Clean drinking water. Safe soil water levels. Reliable sewerage. Modern treatment plants. Sounds obvious. Obvious? 1.1 billion People in the world have no access to safe drinking water and 2.6 billion are without proper sanitary facilities. The origin? The geographic location of a country, climate, historic developments. The result: starvation, diseases and poverty. And often people have not enough knowledge and experience to take matters into their own hands. In the mean time, water usage increases and global warming causes flooding and extreme drought.

Our solution

World Waternet (WWn) deals with all aspects of the water cycle: drinking water, sewerage, waste water purification and the managing of soil and surface water. These problems are related to each other, and to other aspects of human life. That is why we do not simply look at ‘here and now’, but focus on a balance between people, planet and profit.

Strengthening of local organisations

This integral, sustainable approach is essential to face the growing water crisis in the world. The solution is long-term teamwork with local water operators, municipalities, universities, engineering agencies, technology suppliers and financiers. The goal of our partnerships is to make the local organizations independent, because they are the ones who have to do it.

Looking beyond the ‘here and now’

It is a challenge for World Waternet to look beyond the ‘here and now’, because many problems are still to overcome: polluted rivers, poor regulations, the training of specialists, developing more efficient purification techniques. And anticipate current events, such as offering emergency aid in case of disasters. That is why World Waternet also wants to expand its work to other countries in the world and improve the quality of life for many people. By providing them with the basic facilities so common to us in western countries.

We hope we can welcome you within our international partnerships. As a partner or a donor – your contribution will be highly appreciated!
