Our work

World Waternet helps to improve the water cycle in developing countries. We bring means, people and skills together. We coach, advise, support and work together with local and Dutch companies and authorities, as well as with water authorities, social organizations, universities and technology suppliers. This intensive and broad involvement is the key to success of this form of international cooperation.

Strengthening of local organisations

Our core business is the strengthening of local organisations in a sustainable way. Because in the long run, they have to provide for reliable water supply themselves. This means: assisting with the design and building of water treatment plants, the realisation of sanitary provisions, introducing new and alternative techniques, setting up training programs and assuring participation of the local population. We do this in Suriname, Indonesia, the Republic of Latvia, Egypt, Turkey and Aruba. This approach ensures growth of knowledge and manpower in these countries. We are working towards the creation of strong, independent water operators who can solve water problems in their own countries. As well as being a coach to partners in neighbouring countries. In the long run there will be better opportunities for future generations – improved health and economic development (the so called ‘millennium development goals’).
